Central Vacuum Product Range

This quality range of central vacuum units is manufactured by Elek Trends and is probably one of the most comprehensive available in Europe. Elek Trends have been manufacturing integrated central vacuum systems for more than 30 years and in this time have supplied several hundred thousand vacuum units to more than 23 countries.

The range of machines starts with the compact 1200, which is suitable for apartments and small houses (up to 200 square metres) and goes up to the industrial models suitable for hotels and office blocks (up to 2500 square metres). A central vacuum system for domestic applications comprises a metal cylinder with a heavy-duty plastic dust container at the bottom. This has a capacity of 25 litres on most models. There is a choice of stainless steel or epoxy coated mild steel for the cylinder on the popular mid-range machines. These built in vacuum systems have a 2 year guarantee.

Guide to choosing your Central Vacuum Cleaner

The most important factor in determining which central vacuum unit to use is the length of the single longest run of pipework. This means the distance between the vacuum unit and the vacuum socket furthest from the unit. It does not matter how many runs of pipe are used so long as none of them exceed the suggested maximum. The figure for the area covered by any particular unit is given as a guide only. A long narrow building would require a different vacuum unit to a compact square building of the same area.

Guarantee: Our vacuum units are very conservatively rated. When choosing a unit people are often tempted to go for the next model up "just in case". But having too much suction will make vacuuming hard work because the vacuum head will stick to the floor making it difficult to move the vacuum head around. In the unlikely event that the vacuum unit you buy does not give required suction then we will accept that unit back, replace it with the next model up and only charge the difference.

The above charts give recommendations which are based on over 30 years of experience of dealing with central vacuum systems. They are conservative figures and can be regarded as realistic recommendations. Other suppliers may tell you that the same motor is good for more than twice the distance recommended here. If, however, your layout is fairly straight forward, with few bends, then the distances can be increased. Accessories

CVC Direct offer a wide range of hoses and attachments to increase the versatility of your central vacuum system. These include both pneumatically and electrically driven power brushes, grooming brushes, a dust detector brush, and even a VacPan which can be fitted to the plinth under kitchen units. There is a choice of hoses - 7.5m, 9m and 10m long with the option to have a switch in the handle of the hose. A standard accessory kit comprises of a hose, 5 brushes/tools and a storage rack.
