How much will a central vacuum system cost?

Most people think that something as powerful and effective as a built-in vacuum cleaner is going to cost a lot of money and they are pleasantly surprised when they hear that the real costs are much less than they imagined. So, to give you a rough idea of what a complete system will cost, here are some examples for different size properties.

All the following examples contain:-

  • central vacuum unit of an appropriate power
  • 9m flexible hose with
  • pair of telescopic chromium plated tubes (as standard - not an optional extra!)
  • adjustable carpet brush
  • small round brush (useful for dusting skirting boards, panelled doors, ornaments, etc.)
  • upholstery brush
  • crevice nozzle
  • caddy bag (for storing the accessories when not in use)
  • hose hanger (for storing hose)
  • pipework & installation materials
  • a suitable number of white sockets as detailed below

Flat or small house, with a maximum run of pipe of 25 metres and 2 sockets for £507.01 plus carriage & VAT

3-5 bedroom house, with a maximum run of pipe of 20 metres and 4 sockets for £678.92 plus carriage & VAT

4-6 bedroom house, with a maximum run of pipe of 30 metres and 5 sockets for £799.60 plus carriage & VAT

6+ bedroom house, with a maximum run of pipe of 50 metres and 8 sockets for £1098.24 plus carriage & VAT

Commercial premises, large house, & buildings with extended piperuns, with a maximum run of pipe of 50 metres and 8 sockets for £1246.54 plus carriage & VAT or maximum run of 60m and 10 sockets for £1404.05 plus carriage & VAT

NB. The most important factor in determining which vacuum unit to use is the suggested length for the single longest run of pipework. This is the distance between the vacuum unit and the vacuum socket furthest from the unit. It is not important how many runs of pipe are used so long as none of them exceed the maximum recommended distance. The area covered by any particular unit is given as a guide only - a long narrow building requires a different vacuum unit to a compact square building of the same area The suggested length for the longest run of pipework is an installed length and takes into account the fact that a long flexible hose will be used at the end of the run. Each model will work with a much longer run of pipe. However, these vacuum units are conservatively rated & will give an impressive performance if used within the suggested length.
