Central Extract Ventilation

Why every home should have it

  • Prevents condensation and mould by removing the moist air from wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms.
  • Reduces the humidity so carpet and dust mites don't breed - a great help for those with asthma and other allergy sufferers.
  • No draughts

How does it work?

Central extract ventilation has one central extractor unit, instead of several individual extractors in each room. Ideally the central unit will be sited in the roof space or garage or cupboard. Flexible ducting in the ceiling void runs from this unit to each wet room. The extractor will provide a continuous low rate of air change, giving a steady flow of air throughout the house.

Advantages of the SIROC Central Extract Ventilation System:

  • Specifically designed for domestic installation.
  • Maximum airflow (up to 475 cubic m/hr ) is the highest in its class.
  • Ventilation unit made from polypropylene which means it is lightweight and corrosion free.
  • The duct runs are 80mm so they can be routed through a normal 100mm stud partition or behind a soil pipe. Therefore they do not require an increase in the size of the boxing.
  • Extract airflow is via 5 separate inlets on the ventilation unit (4 x 80mm and 1 x 125mm), each of which can be separately adjusted. Air flow from each ‘wet’ room can be independently controlled by a simple but effective constant volume device fitted to the inlets on the ventilation unit. Thus the airflow does not need balancing and is not prone to interference by children, decorators or ‘helpful’ friends.

SIROC

The SIROC is an extract-only system which will remove damp, stale air from the wet rooms and expel it to the outside via a single, centrally placed unit, typically installed in the roof space, garage or cupboard - see diagram below. The extracted air is replaced by fresh air entering the building normally through trickle vents in windows. It is identical to the extract side of the AKOR (see below). Ducting installed for a SIROC can be used with the AKOR if the system is subsequently upgraded.

The SIROC whole house extract unit is suitable for installation in both new and refurbished domestic properties

Helpful tip: If you are building a new house, then we strongly advise that you make provision for ducting the ventilation system to the exterior while the the building is under construction. This greatly simplifies the installation of this item, as it avoids having to cut a 125mm hole in the wall at a later stage, and probably when the scaffolding has been removed. There are 3 common ways to do this.

  1. Build the wall vent grill and a short length of 125mm rigid duct  into the wall as it is being constructed.
  2. Fit the vent grills into the soffit board with a length of flexible ducting
  3. Alternatively, fit a roof vent tile, with the appropriate connection, to the roof while it is being tiled. The roof vent is normally a spigot with a coloured cowl on top and 500x500mm lead skirt. Cowl available in Terracotta (orange/red), Red (brick red) Sepia (brown) and Charcoal (dark grey)

Wall grills, ducting and roof vent tiles are available separately from CVC Direct.

Roof vent tiles are available as a special order to match specific types of tile. Send details of the tile to be used.

The SIROC series are available in two model variations (T3/7 and GD) with airflow performances ranging from 200 up to 450 m3/hr. All units include a powerful single phase 230V 50 Hz 3-speed external rotor motor coupled with a forward curved centrifugal impeller.

With boost and normal speed options (as standard ), the SIROC whole house ventilation system provides cost effective, powerful and easy to use multipoint air extract solution in one unit for residential and small commercial properties. The SIROC system can be purchased as a fan only unit or within standard residential property kit arrangements, which include all corresponding ducting and valves.

Technical Data:

The SIROC casing is manufactured from high impact resistant ABS plastic and include four 80 mm inlet ports (for bathroom, toilet and utility etc.); one 125 mm inlet port (kitchen) and one 125 mm outlet port for connection to the exterior of the building (for extracted air)

To compliment the SIROC series a comprehensive range of specialist accessories (including extract values, ducting and mounting supports) are available to complete any given installation.

The SIROC meets the requirements of current Building Regulations: Document F1 when correctly installed to comply with BS5250 - the control of condensation in buildings.
