Central Vacuum Installation

Sometimes it is not possible to install the standard 90° elbow fitting (shown below right) in a wall. In this case it is necessary to use an alternative arrangement so that the pipe runs through the wall with the elbow either behind the wall or chased into the rear of the wall - see diagrams at the bottom of page 6.

  • Convert the 90˚ elbow fitting to a straight socket fitting by removing the 90˚ elbow part.
  • Fit a straight adaptor to the box part in its place together with a separate 90° elbow which is supplied with the straight adaptor.
  • This is normally a 90º male/female elbow and can be connected directly to the straight adaptor with the female side of the elbow for a short extension - below left.
  • Alternatively it can be used with a straight connector between the straight adaptor and the male side of the 90° elbow - below right - thus extending the length of the fitting. This depends on the depth of the wall.
  • For a longer extension, use a short length of 50mm dia. pipe between the socket fitting and the elbow.

Do not use this separate 90º elbow in the general run of pipework -

It must be only used directly behind a vacuum socket in conjunction with a socket fitting.
